Artwork by a 12 year old boy from El-Fashir, Sudan (shared with permission):
We were at home with my mom, father and my little brothers and sisters. Then we heard people screaming outside.
Mom started crying and shouting. I couldn’t hear her voice properly because everything was so loud. She grabbed us and said, “Come! Run!”
We ran. The houses were on fire. Smoking was everywhere. The fire was big. I was so scared. My legs were hurting me.
We passed the big market. It was full of smoke and ashes.
The next day, we went to my grandfather’s village.

Each day in June, I’m walking in solidarity with Sudanese refugees. My goal is to walk 3.1 mi / 5 km per day to raise $4,000 USD.
All donations will go to Trauma Rescue Aid’s food distribution program for the more than 700 Sudanese refugee families they serve. Let me know your pledge in the comments below or make your donation today at gofundme.com/traid2024
If you cannot give, could you walk to help us raise awareness? Thank you for your solidarity!
