#WalkinSolidarity2026, June 3

June 3: 3.1 mi / 5 km
June Total: 9.3 mi / 15 km

Throughout the month, I’ll share artwork from Sudanese refugee children served by Trauma Rescue Aid. Please take a moment to look at these images and read the child’s story. Artwork and stories are shared with permission.

Artwork by a 10 year old girl from Nyala, Sudan:

The army cars always come and parks near our house. I don’t like it when they come.

One day, when my mother was not at home, one of the soldiers called my older brother. They went behind the house. I did not know what they were talking about.

After some time, I heard my brother crying. I went to see.

They were beating him and tying him to a tree. I started crying and they were laughing while they were beating him asking him to speak.

P.S. After completing today’s walk, I learned that one of our friends and one of his colleagues were abducted by an armed group several days ago. Please pray for their safety and release.

Each day in June, I’m walking in solidarity with Sudanese refugees. My goal is to walk 3.1 mi / 5 km per day to raise $4,000 USD.

All donations will go to Trauma Rescue Aid’s food distribution program for the more than 700 Sudanese refugee families they serve. Let me know your pledge in the comments below or make your donation today at gofundme.com/traid2024

If you cannot give, could you walk to help us raise awareness? Thank you for your solidarity!

Walk in Solidarity with Refugees

In June, I’m joining We Choose Welcome to walk in solidarity with immigrants and refugees. (That simply means I’ve got a good reason to exercise!) Our steps are not just symbolic, each one reminds us that although we walk by choice, many walk to survive.
