I just got off of the Action Hour zoom call in support of de-escalation and diplomacy in Korea.

Over the past week, President Trump has announced substantial reduction in U.S.-South Korea military drills, claimed ongoing conversations with North Korea, and made overtures towards engaging North Korea. North Korea has denied ongoing diplomacy but acknowledge the rapport of the two leaders. This moment has created a narrow window for renewed diplomacy between the U.S. and North Korea.

Join the Korea Peace Network for an Action Hour urging your member of Congress to support de-escalation measures and diplomatic engagement with North Korea. The Korean War has remained unended for 73 years and relations between U.S. and North Korea have been frozen since Trump and Kim’s meetings in 2018-19. U.S. leaders need to seize this opportunity to bring North Korea back to the table.

During the Action Hour, you will hear a brief state-of-play recap from Korea peace advocates on the past week’s developments followed by an opportunity to call your member of Congress and urge them to support diplomacy and peace in Korea.

This is a practical, hands-on opportunity to turn concern into impact—no prior advocacy experience required. Korea Peace Network advocates will offer scripts and guidance to support your advocacy. Come ready to learn, act, and help move Korea policy in a more just and peaceful direction.

This event is hosted by the Korea Peace Network, an alliance of concerned U.S.-based civil society groups working together to establish a just peace on the Korean Peninsula through peacebuilding, engagement, trust-building, reconciliation, and dialogue between all concerned governments and civil society groups.

The Korean War has gone 73 years without a peace agreement, and that unresolved state of war is the root of the tension. I care about this issue because [PERSONAL CONNECTION]. There’s an opening for diplomacy right now, and I want my representative on record supporting a real negotiating process, not just a one-time meeting between two leaders. Please cosponsor H.R. 1841 and support de-escalation and peace on the Korean Peninsula. Thank you.

  • ending the travel ban on US citizen travel to the DPRK
  • signaling willingness for talks without denuclearization
  • issuing a unilateral declaration ending the Korean War
