Collaborating for Change: 6 week online small group, Weds @ 8:30 pm ET, 11.4-12.9

Cross-posting this invitation to join me and Peter Anderson for the demo run of a new curriculum that Peace Catalyst is launching on November 4th (Source):

Learn how followers of Jesus can collaborate across differences, confront injustice nonviolently, and work together toward the common good.

Following Jesus in a divided and unjust world requires more than good intentions. How do we respond when injustice is embedded in the systems and structures around us? How do we work for change without reproducing the violence, contempt, or dehumanization we seek to overcome? And how can Christians learn to collaborate with people who may not share our theology, politics, strategies, or vision for change?

Collaborating for Change is a 6-session online small group designed to help Christians explore these questions in community and develop a more faithful, courageous, and collaborative approach to social change.

Rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus and the biblical vision of shalom—God’s holistic and just peace—this small group brings together insights from Christian peacebuilding, Kingian Nonviolence, conflict transformation, restorative justice, community organizing, and movements for nonviolent social change.

Together, participants will explore how to move from concern to courageous commitment, from distance to genuine proximity, from harmful narratives to better stories, and from working alone to building relationships and coalitions for change. The journey culminates in exploring faithful nonviolent action and the practices of joy, hope, and resilience that sustain long-term work for justice.

My colleague, Mike McDougle, reflects on the meaning of Jesus’ great commission. What did Jesus teach his followers?

A Shalom-Centered Worldview “Belief Tree”

The “Belief Tree” diagram is a helpful visual tool for exploring how our worldview influences our beliefs, values, decisions, and behaviors. By visualizing these connections, we can better understand the relationship between what we believe at the deepest level and the “fruit” that our lives produce.
