#WalkinSolidarity2026 on World Refugee Day

This artwork represent the hopes of a 7 year old boy whose family has taken refugee in Uganda, originally from Kassala, Sudan (shared with permission):

“This is Ahmed and Omer. They are my friends. They are our neighbors.

We used to play together. I miss them. I don’t know where they went.

We used to play every day, from morning until night.

When I go back, we will play again.”


Each day in June, I’m walking in solidarity with Sudanese refugees. My goal is to walk 3.1 mi / 5 km per day to raise $4,000 USD this month. We still need to raise $2,739.

All donations will go to Trauma Rescue Aid’s food distribution program for the more than 700 Sudanese refugee families they serve. Let me know your pledge in the comments below or make your donation today:

Though I surpassed my goal of walking 5 kilometers per day in June, the 162 kilometers I walked was only 8% of the journey from Nyala, Sudan to Mukono, Uganda that 13 year old Khamis* and his family took to survive.
