Rev. Samuel Shinn on Massacres in South Korea before and during the Korean War

In the June 2026 session of the Korea Peace Study Group, we heard from Rev. Samuel Shinn, one of the co-founders of an organization called Truth Reconciliation and Peace. He is a Korean American, retired pastor, and peace and social justice advocate who shares in this session about massacres committed in South Korea before and during the Korean War.

Remembering Jeju 4.3

In our April 2026 session of the Korea Peace Study Group, we collectively remembered the loss of Korean life to state-sponsored violence on Jeju island from 1948-1954. The United States has never acknowledged its role in the massacres on Jeju Island despite issuing the order that led to the indiscriminate slaughter of civilians.
