Some of you may have attended a presentation on Korean Christian Zionism by Dr. Keunjoo Christine Pae during last Thursday’s Korea Peace Now Grassroots’ Network’s Faith Caucus meeting. For those who were unable to attend, the recording is below:

Dr. Pae’s presentation provided some definitions of Christian Zionism and connected those to modern Korean history and global Christian nationalist political movements. There are many details we can explore about the role Christian Zionism plays in the political and social landscape in Korea. Dr. Pae is writing a book on Korean Christian Zionism, both in Korean and in English, and said she would love to discuss the topic with study group members familiar with both Korean and U.S. contexts.

So, for this month’s study session, we invite you for an extended discussion on Korean Christian Zionism with Dr. Keunjoo Christine Pae. In preparation, please WATCH THE RECORDING of Dr. Pae’s presentation and take notes of your thoughts and questions to enrich our discussion next weekend. Dr. Pae has generously shared some of her writings HERE if you have time to do more reading, particularly her latest paper entitled “Political Economy of Christian Zionism and the Solidarity with Palestine Movement in South Korea.”

Join us via Zoom
Friday, May 8th at 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET in US
Saturday, May 9th at 9 am in Korea

MORE FROM KOREA PEACE STUDY GROUP

Remembering Jeju 4.3

In our April 2026 session of the Korea Peace Study Group, we collectively remembered the loss of Korean life to state-sponsored violence on Jeju island from 1948-1954. The United States has never acknowledged its role in the massacres on Jeju Island despite issuing the order that led to the indiscriminate slaughter of civilians.

Shamanism and Colonial Drag

In our March 2026 study session, Dr. Merose Hwang leads a discussion exploring historic spaces carved out between the poles of imperialism and nationalism and modern Korean spaces that seek to defy definition.

Donroe Doctrine: Pivot to the Americas?

In the February 2026 session of Korea Peace Study Group, learn about the US’ new National Security Strategy and its implications for our unended work for peace on the Korean Peninsula.
