As your constituent, I am urging you to support and co-sponsor an Iran War Powers Resolution, sponsored by Senators Tim Kaine and Rand Paul, and to call for and support all diplomatic means to de-escalate and prevent war with Iran. Congress must take action to stop President Trump from plunging the U.S. into a full-blown war with Iran. The time for Congress to act to stop this is now.
Sens. Kaine and Paul recently introduced an Iran War Powers Resolution in the Senate to prevent war with Iran without Congressional authorization. I am urging the Senator to please co-sponsor and support the passage of this Iran War Powers Resolution.
As you may recall, we’ve been at this crossroads before. Without Congressional authorization, Trump bombed Iran on June 21, 2025, following Israel’s illegal strikes. That U.S. attack was illegal and unconstitutional.
A recent Quinnipiac poll indicated 70% of American voters oppose military action against Iran in response to the protests in Iran. Iranians inside Iran also overwhelmingly do not support military intervention.
I urge the senator to support and co-sponsor the Kaine/Paul War Powers Resolution on Iran. I would also urge the senator to call on the administration to take steps to de-escalate and support efforts for long-term diplomatic engagement with Iran. The American people do not support an unauthorized and unconscionable war with Iran.
