A Choice No Mother Should Have to Make

Today, I watched a 20-minute documentary on the New Yorker’s website, documenting the choice that one mother had to make in the wake of Donald Trump’s decision to end USAID programming around the world.

“For more than two decades, international partnerships steadily improved survival rates for children suffering from acute malnutrition. In some regions, the rate of recovery had climbed above 90%. Those gains represented one of global health’s quiet success stories (UNICEF / WHO Global Nutrition Report, 2023).”

And yet, within hours of being sworn into his second term as US President, Donald Trump was banning foreign aid and halting decades of progress in eliminating preventable deaths from malnutrition.

Please spare 20 minutes to listen to one woman tell her story. Learn how US cuts to foreign aid programs shaped Rovina Naboi’s world, forcing her into a choice no mother should have to make.

Walk in Solidarity with Refugees

In June, I’m joining We Choose Welcome to walk in solidarity with immigrants and refugees. (That simply means I’ve got a good reason to exercise!) Our steps are not just symbolic, each one reminds us that although we walk by choice, many walk to survive.

May Food Distribution for Sudanese Refugees

Our food distribution this May reached 425 Sudanese refugee families. 735 families need assistance in June, which raises our fundraising goal. Can you help?
