CAIR ACTION ALERT: Tell Congress to Sanction Sudan’s RSF and Impose UAE Arms Embargo
Join the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in calling on members of Congress to express support for imposing maximum sanctions on Sudan’s genocidal Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and an arms embargo on its alleged funder, the United Arab Emirates.
CAIR’s call for Congress to support these steps follows the UAE-backed RSF’s massacres of civilians in Sudan on El Fashr, the latest in a long line of crimes against humanity.
Contact your members of Congress today and urge them to take decisive action to end the RSF’s reign of terror, hold its backers accountable, and support a stable, representative Sudan where civilians can live in peace and dignity.
Please take action to:
- Impose maximum sanctions on the RSF and its leadership.
- Support and co-sponsor Senator Van Hollen’s S.935, a bill to prohibit certain weapons sales to the United Arab Emirates, or sponsor and support similar legislation in the House.
- Impose an arms embargo on any other nation found to be arming or funding the RSF.
- Lift all U.S. sanctions on the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) while urging it to commit to a clear, credible path toward a representative civilian government.
The RSF, a paramilitary militia implicated in mass killings, ethnic cleansing, and racist attacks on Black Sudanese refugees, continues to receive alleged support from the UAE, Israel, and other U.S. allies despite existing sanctions.
In recent months, RSF forces have carried out drone strikes on mosques and power stations, burned displacement camps, and executed civilians and aid workers in Darfur and Port Sudan.
