Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act Reintroduced in Congress

At the end of February, Congressperson Brad Sherman (CA-32) reintroduced the bipartisan Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act with 33 co-sponsors (60% more than in the previous Congressional session).

  1. This bill calls for urgent diplomacy by the Secretary of State to bring the Korean War to a formal end and establish liaison offices for ongoing diplomatic engagement between the USA and the DPRK.
  2. This bill (unlike propaganda you will hear to the contrary) does not remove legal provisions for American military presence in South Korea.
  3. This bill advocates for divided Korean and Korean American families to have the opportunity to meet after nearly 80 long years of separation.

You can watch the press conference introducing H.R. 1841, with Congressional Representatives Brad Sherman, Judy Chu, David Min, and Korean American Public Action Committee (KAPAC)’s Casey Choi, below:

“02/26/2025 | Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32), senior Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, leads a press conference in front of the United States Capitol and urges the passage of his bill, the ‘Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act’ that would end America’s longest forever war, achieve regional stability and help foster a lasting peace.”
