Join us in calling for Korea Peace Now!

This week is Korea Peace Advocacy week!

It has been more than 70 years since the Korean War was paused with an armistice. The sides promised to negotiate an official end to the war, but that peace agreement never came. The unended state of war has left the people on the Korean Peninsula living in a militarized society since 1953.

In a time when political tensions are escalating between North and South Korea, and the United States is expanding its military exercises on the Korean Peninsula, the Korea Peace Now Grassroots Network is calling for all nations to step back from the brink. With the many other urgent needs in our world today, we need momentum to end wars.

It is time to end hostility rather than inflame it.

Therefore, as American citizens, we call on our United States government to engage in serious, urgent diplomacy in pursuit of a peace agreement to end the Korean War. We are doing this through the Peace on the Korea Peninsula Act (HR 1369) in the House of Representatives. Already 38 Congressional Representatives from both parties have signed onto this bill.

YOU are invited to join our advocacy team.

1. Call your representatives in Congress

  • Enter your zip code at THIS LINK and receive the phone numbers for your representatives (2 Senators and 1 Congressperson) in Washington D.C.
  • Call those numbers one by one to ask for their support for a peace agreement to formally end the Korean War.

Here’s a suggested script you can read to the person who answers the phone and takes messages:

“Hello. My name is (full name), from (city, state).
I’m calling today as a part of Korea Peace Advocacy week.
I am concerned about the militarization in Northeast Asia.
I think one step the United States can make toward peace would be engaging in diplomacy to officially end the Korean War.
This war has gone on for far too long.
Please ask your boss to support an end to the Korean War.

2. Email your Representative in support of HR 1369

  • Use THIS LINK to send an email to your House Representative.
  • There is a letter already written, which you can personalize.

Thank you for standing with us
for peace on the Korean Peninsula!
