People Are the Sky: Upcoming Film Screening and Discussion (October 13, 2023)

The Korea Peace Study Group, LIFT Campaign to end the US’ travel ban to North Korea, and NY/NJ chapter of the Korea Peace Now Grassroots Network are co-hosting a film screening and discussion the evening of October 13th.

Anyone can register to attend this event and learn how to get more involved in the Korea Peace Now Grassroots Network, working for peace in Korea and an end to the Korean War.

We will be screening Dai Sil Kim-Gibson’s very personal documentary, People Are the Sky, which documents her return to the country and town of her birth. Seeking understanding of what drove her family from their North Korean hometown and a sense of home among people in the north and south, her journey beautifully weaves Korean history through her own experiences.

“Kim-Gibson… pinpoints the roots of North Korean’s hatred of the United States, giving Americans a much better understanding of the conflict. A mix of interviews, epic images, and graceful musings, People Are the Sky offers some of the best political and social history of the relations between North and South Korea…”

Friday, October 13th
7:30 pm ET – virtual film screening on Zoom
9:00 pm ET – discussion of the film
