Hi Friends,
Registration for our April Nonviolence Studies— Listening, Relating, and Communicating in Conflict, is now open through March 31. This is part of our yearlong, twelve-month Nonviolence Studies program, where each month explores a different dimension of nonviolence in practice.
In April, we’ll explore communication not just as a set of techniques, but as a practice of presence—how we listen, how we relate, and how we stay connected both within ourselves and with others, even in moments of tension. Together, we’ll look at what it means to communicate with clarity, care, and groundedness, including how we express boundaries and move beyond simply being “nice” toward being in integrity with our values.
Communication is not separate from conflict—it is how conflict lives, moves, and transforms between us.
Rather than focusing on any one method, we’ll take a broader approach—exploring communication as a relational and human practice within the larger framework of nonviolence.
Each week, we’ll share a set of resources for you to explore on your own time—readings, recordings, and reflections to support your study and practice.
Throughout the month, we’ll gather in a few different ways: regular office hours with Michael Nagler and the Metta team; a small number of workshops (scheduled on weekdays between 9–3pm PT and recorded for those in other time zones); and decentralized study groups, where you can connect with others in pairs or small groups at times that work for you. We’ll also be inviting workshop proposals from participants who feel called to contribute.
You can learn more and register here. Registration is open until March 31.
You’re welcome to join us for this month, or continue with us throughout the year.
We’d love to have you join us.
Warmly,
Stephanie
