Christmas Through the Lens of the Foreigner: Immigration in the Birth Narrative

Thursday, December 11, 1pm (EST)

The Christmas story is, at its core, a story shaped by movement. From mandated travel under imperial rule, to journeys back to ancestral homelands, to fleeing violence, the birth narrative of Jesus is woven through with themes familiar to immigrants, refugees, and displaced people today.

In this webinar, we will explore the Nativity through the lens of the foreigner, highlighting how Scripture invites us to see the complexities of migration—both ancient and modern.

Together we will reflect on:

• Power, privilege, and broken systems
• Reverse migration and ancestral return
• Incarnation as divine proximity
• Fleeing state-sponsored violence
• Hospitality as a sacred calling

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how the Christmas story speaks into our current cultural moment and how followers of Jesus can embody faithful, neighbor-centered hospitality today.
