Understanding APEC

This was the September 2025 session of the Korea Peace Study Group, which occurs virtually, on the second Friday evening of the month, USA time.

Dae-Han Song from the International Strategy Center shared with us about APEC, very timely as South Korea is hosting the APEC Forum and Leader’s Summit in October.

If any of you are interested in participating in the People’s Response to APEC events happening in South Korea from October 30th-November 1st, please note the following:

  • Oct 30, Forum in Seoul: Vijay Prashad, Leaders from IPA, Speakers from Workers party of Belgium, speakers from China, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.
  • Oct 31, People’s Alternative Gathering & Press Conference

  • Nov 1, International March in Gyeongju: All organized by people’s response to APEC, which includes ISC, local peace groups, unions, etc.
  • Need volunteers to help prepare with translation and accompany foreign guests as interpreters during the events in South Korea. Email iscenter2015@gmail.com for more information.

The Korean War, the cause of the unended militarization on the Korean Peninsula, has not ended. American citizens can urge our government to end this war and return sovereignty to the Korean people. One way to do this is by supporting the “Peace on the Korean Peninsula” bill in Congress (H.R. 1841). Contact your member of Congress today about the Peace on the Korean Peninsula bill.
