This song was written while Misty Edwards was singing from Psalm 23 and meditating about going through difficult times. “While singing this passage it occurred to me that the Valley of the Shadow of Death is just that, only a shadow. In this life we are in the shadow of death but in reality we are eternal beings who will never die and this gives us courage to endure the valley no matter what the trial is knowing as Paul wrote in 2 Cor. 4:8-9, ‘We are hard-pressed on every side, yet we are not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed’. We have an eternal weight of glory working in us in the midst of the shadow!”

“Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever” (Dan. 12:3)

“One day I was meditating on the throne room from Revelation 4 and in my minds eye I saw Jesus standing before the Father praying for the nations. The thought came to me, ‘what does He think when He hears my name?’ In that beautiful place, surrounded by glory and majesty, while He is praying for the multitudes in the midst of thundering, lightening and the many voices around the throne, if my voice were heard, what would Jesus’s emotion be? Would He be disinterested or worse, angry with me? Or, would His heart leap in remembrance of me? Hosea says that the heart of God yearns for His people and even churns within Him. When my name is heard around His throne it is with mercy and when thoughts of me come to His memory, it is with kindness that He thinks of me. I want my life to be to Him a treasured memory. This is the story of all who love Him. (Psalm. 40:5)”
