This is just a quick confession. I don’t like going on outreach. Usually, I dread it.
I am so grateful that we consistently meet and pray together before outreach. In those moments, we set our heart on what God wants for the evening, lay down our own agendas, and then we go out and follow His leading. Those prayer times are absolutely key. Without them, I would stop going on outreach.
Many times, as we enter those times of prayer, I confess to God, “Lord, I really don’t want to go out tonight. I don’t want to go at all if You’re not leading me somehow. Would you please show me what You’re doing? Would you inject my heart with your feelings about these people? Would You give me eyes to see the ones around me like You see them?”
And, God answers these prayers. God gives me vision. God gives me His heart, and then His love compels our team out once more.
Maybe this encourages you in your journey with Jesus and those He loves.
