A prayer I journaled one morning. I want to know Jesus like Phil Keaggy knows the guitar. 😉

Someone can know all the musical theory in the world and still not be able to improvise – to skat –
to play a jazz solo – to let the music flow from their hearts, through the instrument, and into the air. “Experts” who build their expertise on study – not living – come up wanting when the band looks to them for a solo.
Lord, I don’t want to know about You without concrete, deeply-personal experience with You. My head knows so much now, but I don’t want to get to heaven only to be surprised by who You are – to have misknown You… to enter awkwardly and clumsily into Your throneroom… without confidence…
Let me – help me – to know You sincerely and in truth.

“You study the scriptures diligently, because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very scriptures that testify about Me, yet you refuse to come to Me that you may have life.”
– Jesus (John 5:39-40, emphasis mine)
