I saw a dead cat on the side of the road. What does it say to me?

It’s been five days since I first saw the dead cat. It’s still there. It’s dirty and smelly and I don’t want to touch it… not even to bury it. But over the past few days, it has not gone away. In fact, the stench and decay have only worsened with the passing of time.

We need to deal with things – sad, sorrowful, hurtful, offensive things – when they happen. We need to give ourselves intentionally to dealing with the pain, offense, and sadness instead of ignoring it. If we don’t, like the cat, those things get worse. Not better.

Is there anything painful, sad, inconvenient, hurtful, or offensive that you’re ignoring these days? What can you do to address this today?
