This afternoon, I went to the kitchen to get my fabulous lunch of posho and slimy greens.
Each meal now, I’m thinking, “Is this the last time I’ll eat this?” – unless of course it’s posho and beans, because we get that every day!
I’ve especially enjoyed one meal that the cooks make – the posho and eggs (have you noticed a theme with the posho yet?). So, I asked the wonderful cook if she was going to make posho and eggs again before I left.
“I don’t know if it’s on the schedule,” she said.
“Well, I’m going back to my homeland on Monday,” I told her.
Her response?
“You poor thing.”
Aw, Jennie. Praying for you!
I'm not sure if that was supposed to be funny, but either way, I did laugh. I also realized the sadness behind the statement, so if I wasn't supposed to laugh, I was not purely heartless…just FYI. Monday, eh? That's quick. Coming right up. Well, we'll enjoy having you stateside more now, but they'll all miss you terribly, and you them, as I'm sure I didn't need to state.
Wow, so soon! What makes us rich is that we can go home! We always have the choice to eat more, to have more, to live more luxuriously..
