Everybody needs to feel like they belong to something or to someone, which is why the message of Christ’s coming to earth is so transformational. God – infinite, powerful, supreme God – came to be with us.

“And they shall call Him Emmanuel, God with us.”
(Matthew 1:23)

In the hurry and rush of the Christmas season, what a pity it would be to relegate Emmanuel to a manger — or even to a thirty-three year existence in the Galilean countryside — when He has never left us! In all actuality, His “leaving us” led directly to His invasion of us!
Jesus said, “It is better for you that I go away; because if I do not go, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you!” (John 16:7)
His birth, life, death, resurrection, and ascension served the purpose of reinitiating the relationship with God that was always meant to be. Although God with us in a physical manifestation is no longer walking the hills of Palestine — He is still here, actually making His dwelling inside of us in the person of the Holy Spirit! That’s totally nuts, right?!
GOD IN US. THE HOPE OF GLORY. (Colossians 1:27)
“Acknowledge the Holy Spirit within you as you go through your day. ‘Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you’ (James 4:8). Delight in His presence. He is Emmanuel- God with us.” -Aletha Hinthorn

Holy Spirit, You are so welcome in me. Help me to acknowledge you and consciously be with You in each moment. Whether life seems dull or overloaded, may I never forget or forsake Your beautiful presence with me. Oh Jesus, grant that I would love You more. 🙂
