The cat’s out of the bag. Now the whole world knows that South Sudan is breaking the CPA and reacquiring weapons. Come on, South Sudan, you’re supposed to keep things like this off the radar!
I suppose secrets like this are bound to emerge when you trust the Kenyan government to cover up for your illegal weapons purchases from Ukraine. President Salva Kiir, secrets like this will inevitably come out when you trust Eastern European sailors to bring in your shipment of weapons via Mombasa. Those Ukrainian sailors will eventually let some pesky Somalian pirates on board – undoubtedly while a U.S. Navy fleet is nearby. And, of course, the U.S. Navy will know – and announce to the world – that the mystery, hijacked shipment of tanks and anti-aircraft guns doesn’t really belong to the Kenyan government but to the government of Southern Sudan.
How predictable is that? Really! Couldn’t you see that coming, Mr. President?
Dude. What a crazy scenario.
According to The East African, this is a two-sided arms race. It seems that both sides are gearing up for renewed conflict.
Lord, have mercy on Sudan.
