The older boys love to listen to the radio. They have a handheld set that is powered by a hand crank. So, they crank it for about thirty seconds, listen for about ten minutes and crank again after it fades out. That radio has provided hours and hours of entertainment for them during their man-sessions around the fire in the evening.
I also get a fair bit of entertainment from the little set, as they play it loudly enough to be heard in Michele’s room, where I usually work on the computer in the evenings. Sudanese radio is hysterical enough already, but imagine the boys trying to sing along to Celine Dion and – prepare yourself – Dolly Parton!
Why, boys? Why?!
