Everyone is on their own journey, aren’t they? Each one’s journey is unique – each journey individual – but there is beauty found in them all. Father is never far from any one of them.
Each individual story weaves and threads and works its way through a tangled mess of other journeys – confusing masses of connections and degrees of separation – ties that bind and ties that break.
Our journeys are filled with happenings, and too often we choose to define our lives by what we have done or where we have done it. After all, journeys usually imply movement on a geographical sphere. But, even the physically immobile are on a journey. Everyone walks a path. It is faces – not places – that truly shape our days. The other journeyers matter infinitely more than the unique rest stops along the way.
Relationships will define us in the end.
Lord, as I journey today, give me eyes of love and a heart of understanding toward the souls around me. May I seek to know them, not use them. To value them, not abuse. To honor them, not jockey for position. To care about their concerns, not ignore their heart. To really hear them, not selfishly filter their words to fit my agenda.
Let me live in Love.
And as I go, Daddy, may I walk with my small hand in yours – my ear tuned to Your infinite voice.
