Ombasi, Sudan
The word of God had been declared, many people had responded, saying they wanted to know Jesus, and now, our team was walking through the crowd, praying for the sick. After a declaration of the Word of God, it’s always great to encounter the Word. So, I asked the Holy Spirit to show up and encounter the people- to do His thing in our midst.
Two women grabbed me suddenly, one on either shoulder, and led me to a young girl. I believe she was nine years old. She stared off into space, eyes not focused on anything.
“She’s blind! She cannot see,” explained a man, her father, standing behind her.
I waved my hand in front of her face, searching her expression for any recognition. Nothing. I had already seen eyes that were partially blind improve, but total blindness? I silently prayed, “Help, Lord! She can’t see a thing!”
I cupped her small face in my hands and began speaking aloud to the LORD. Then, in my spirit, I felt a release. “She is going to see!” I thought excitedly.
In a moment of Spirit inspired boldness, I called out, “Eyes, I command you, in Jesus’ name, be opened!”
Immediately, the girl’s eyes focused. Her facial expression changed from a blank stare- to surprise- to confusion- to joy in a matter of seconds!
I was ecstatic! I began waving my hand in front of her face again. She reacted. I asked her to follow my finger. Her eyes followed the movement.
I began jumping up and down, praising Jesus in my very limited Arabic.
Then, I caught a glimpse of her father. What joy was on his face as he looked into his daughters eyes- and was seen for the first time. She saw her dad.
I crouched down beside her and gave her a very simple message, “Jesus loves you. He loves you so much.”
As I stepped back and reflected on what had just transpired, I realized, “Whoa. If Jesus just healed her eyes as I prayed for her, that means that Jesus and I were just ministering together! I am with Jesus! I am walking with Jesus! Whoa… and I get to walk with Him for ETERNITY!”
It was hard to lose the silly grin that stuck on my face after that revelation.
“Rejoice not because the spirits submit to you in my name, but because your names are written in heaven.”
