I am leaving on Friday for a weekend in the bush. After a 7 hour ride on the back of a flatbed truck with 20+ other people, we will show the Jesus film, watch Jesus heal people and free the demonized, preach the Gospel, camp in tents, hopefully pray down spiritual strongholds, and, I am really hoping to see some witchdoctors set free. We will be there until Sunday. So, please pray with me. We know we’re going with a heavenly army, and I am SO SO thankful for your prayers.
After Sunday, I will be sending my passport to immigration (again) to try to renew my visa for the last 10 days I will be in country- from the end of July until August 5th, when my plane leaves Pemba for Sudan (via South Africa and Uganda). So, prayers are appreciated for that as well…
BUT, right now, imagine yourself as a man or woman or child who has lived your entire life knowing only the fear of curses, spirits, powerful witchdoctors, and, perhaps if you’re in a Muslim village, a distant god who cares little for you personally. Living in the bush, facing illness, seeing death from a young age, and often living with chronic illness and hunger- what might be good news for you? Would a God who cares be good news? Would a God who multiplies food and heals diseases be good news? Would a God who smiles and holds children and gives all of Himself in laid down love be good news? Would power over curses and authority over evil spirits be good news? HECK YES!
These people living in darkness will encounter this living God this weekend! I am so excited to bear the good news and the presence of Jesus as I go! Already we’ve seen healing after healing- and I’ll look forward to sharing testimonies of what God does upon my return.
Thanks for your prayers. 🙂 I want to encounter God more as I go with my brothers and sisters to share the GOOD GOOD news in the bush villages. HOW GOD LOVES THESE PEOPLE!
Man… there is so much I could share. I’m falling more and more in love with Jesus each day- and I totally get now how nuns can give their entire lives to solitude- to seeking Him. Whoa… but He’s called me out… yet I’ll get both!!! I’ll seek intimacy with Him as I go out, and everywhere I go, I’ll find Him… especially in the unexpected places and in the faces of the least of these. All fruit comes from intimacy (John 15).
Ah man. I need to go now. Please pray! Ah, I love Jesus! Just love Him people- because His love for you is world shaking- and His hand on your life… wow… His plan for you… oh, just seek Him. Be so hungry for Him. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst—- they will be filled.
Love love love,
Jennie-Joy
Your emails make me want to be there so bad! I miss AFRICA!!!!! Ahhh! I’m going to go crazy here. Thank you for keeping me updated. I love reading your updates.
Praying for you Jennie. Seriously. Earnestly. Because I know you are doing great things. May Jesus heal, may Jesus free, may Jesus speak. Good news? Heck yes!
