Hey gang- sorry I haven’t updated in a while. I haven’t had access to the internet for over a week, and I only have time for a quick post now… but I have a lot to post when I get some internet time.
Tomorrow, Kim and I are off to Bangkok, Thailand for several days. Kim’s supervisor, Helen, has arranged some meetings for us with several organizations that are fighting human trafficking there. Thailand, Bangkok especially, is infamous for the sex-tourism- so much so that tourist guidebooks recommend the brothels for after-dinner entertainment. Lonely Planet’s Thailand book seriously suggested that after dinner, if you only had one night in Bangkok, you should go to the red light district!!! Please complain. Everyone let Lonely Planet know that what they wrote in their book Thailand (the 11th edition) is not only inappropriate, but is encouraging behaviour that fuels the abuse and exploitation of women and children! Huge ethical blunder, Lonely Planet. Shame to the nth power!
We will leave by bus tomorrow morning, spend the night in the border town of Poipet, and then arrive in Bangkok on Friday evening. We will be there until next Wednesday, when we will fly back to Phnom Penh. I should be able to update at some point within the next couple of weeks, but that all depends on when I find time for the internet. Anyway, in the mean time, thank you for your prayers.
Much love from Kampuchea,
Jennie <
PS- Kim is feeling much better. She’s been resting a lot and regaining her appetite. Thanks for your prayers!!!
