I think the USA should celebrate this international holiday. I’ve always enjoyed this celebration in Mozambique… they really celebrate it well in Mozambique… anyway…
In Cambodia, it is a public holiday, so there was no school. Allyn and I were visiting the World Hope school in Phiem Phlay that day. After looking over the school and talking with the pastor who lives on the school campus, we visited some of the students and one of the teachers in their homes. Some of the kids started dancing… so, here is the video I took of the Cambodian celebration of children’s day! 🙂
Phiem Phlay was a reality check. Many of the kids were extremely malnourished. Some had lice. The homes were extremely small, low to the ground (prone to flooding), and house large families (5-11 people). Life is hard. The father in one home was very ill. He may have AIDS.
But, we live in hope. We hope because of our faith in the Father’s love… I’m praying that my eyes of faith will grow stronger to see and trust the love of the Father, even in the face of earthly problems that my temporal mind cannot understand.
