Allyn and I had planned to be traveling to Phiem Phlay today, but the trip was pushed back until tomorrow because of a miscommunication with Pastor Kiet. So, I got a day off! 🙂 So far, I’ve had breakfast, read the book of Mark, journalled, and read through some old World Hope project reports. I’m planning to post this to the site at lunch – at an American-run cafe five minutes from my apartment with free wi-fi (wireless internet access).
This afternoon, I hope to type up some reports about the projects I’ve seen thus far, go down to the market to get some fruit, and drop by the office where Kim works to pick up some packets of trafficking education material (Allyn scheduled a child protection seminar in Kampong Cham next month, and we need to make copies of this material for those who will attend). Kim will be spending the night at her supervisor’s home across town tonight, because they need to be up early tomorrow morning to take care of the final details for the child help-line consultation tomorrow. So… maybe I’ll warm up last night’s leftover spaghetti, kick back, and watch a DVD by myself this evening. 🙂
Helen, Kim’s supervisor, is working to establish a child help-line here in Cambodia. Basically, it would be a phone number where abused children could call to receive help and counseling. Helen’s been pushing for this for a long time, and tomorrow, she and her staff have planned a huge consultation here in Phnom Penh. Government ministers, NGOs, Buddhist monks, and all kinds of people are getting together to discuss this project. Pray hard that it meets with the approval of the government ministers, especially.
Also, Kim was ill yesterday with a cold, sore throat, bad cough, and general weakness. She hasn’t been able to get much sleep these past few nights, so she really needs to LORD’s strength to accomplish the tasks she’s been assigned. Helen seems quite stressed with all of the logistics and protocol she has to attend to- so, please offer a prayer for their strength and well-being, too!
Well, my dear friends and family, I’m leaving now- to enjoy the rest of my day off. 🙂 Cheers!
